You will ALSO need coverslips, plastic or glass. You should collect a drop of mucus from the surface of the fish, with the coverslip. Then place a drop of water from the pond or fish, onto the glass slide above. Then lay the coverslip with its mucus on the slide.
The sample is sandwiched with water between the slide on the bottom and the coverslip on top.
